What's a widget?

The ChipIn widget is a small indicator of the progress of your event that you can post to your blog, Web site, or favorite online community. The ChipIn widget helps to promote your ChipIn event to your site visitors. The widget provides real-time updates on the amount contributed to date, the percentage of the goal reached, and the number of people contributing. By clicking on the "ChipIn!" button on the widget, visitors will be taken to your event invitation page where they can contribute to your ChipIn.

2. Note that MySpace prevents links on widgets from opening in a new browser window. Tell your viewers that after clicking on the ChipIn! button on the widget that they will need to copy and paste the URL into their browser.

5. Go to the edit profile section of your MySpace.
6. Paste your widget code into the About Me section (or another section) of your profile.
7. Click on Preview Profile.
8. Click on Save all changes.

10. Click on Back to homepage in the upper left corner of your screen.
11. Paste in your ChipIn event ID and click save.

4. Click on Add content in the upper left corner.
5. Click on Mini API module on the bottom left of your page.
6. Click on the Edit link.
7. Enter the URL http://widget.chipin.com/widget/widget.netvibes.html.
8. Click on Add to my page.
9. Move your mouse over the title bar and click Edit.
10. Enter your ChipIn event ID and select your desired size option, then click ok.

2. Note that the widget will not work on hosted WordPress blogs (blogs at yourname.wordpress.com), as widgets are not allowed there.
3. To add the widget to a new post on your non-hosted WordPress blog, follow the instructions below.
4. Copy your widget code (see above).
5. Log into your WordPress blog.
6. Make sure you disable using the rich text editor by selecting the Options menu, then selecting Writing, then unchecking the Users should use the visual rich editor by default option.
7. Click on the Write menu.
8. Paste the widget code into the Post field.
9. Click Publish.
