In reply to <a href="https://www.chipin.com/best-smart-pens-reviews/#comment-37">Jon Green</a>.

Thank you! I was going to post this very thing. With the high price tag, I considered my Sky pen an investment that I could intermittently use for at least a decade. Since 8/2014, I kept it in the case until I needed it a few days ago. Display is dead. I got a grand total of 14 pages of notes out of it. They expanded the warranty to 3 years because of the defect, but anyone who purchased before then is screwed - unless you want 20% off a new pen, which they'l happily give a discount for. Pfft. There are vibrator companies (Lelo) with better warranties than these guys!

Please be aware that LiveScribe have had considerable problems with OLED displays in their pens. Specifically, the display fades into unreadability after a period of a couple of years or so. At that point, the pen is useless, as you can't even tell if it's switched on, even at the maximum brightness setting.

LiveScribe have managed the problem appallingly badly, and alienated countless former fans, myself included. Google "livescribe oled problem" for many, many corroborations. There is even a mention in Wikipedia (at time of writing): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Livescribe#OLED_problems

LiveScribe claims that models dating from the start of 2015 no longer have these problems, but I am skeptical.

I loved my Echo. I now can't see myself buying any LiveScribe product. I won't go as far as to suggest others take a similar stand, but please think carefully before splashing your cash on any product of theirs with a display.
